I wrote this on December 9, 1980, when I was ten years olde. It was about four in the morning, I believe. I couldn’t sleep. Ah, the anger of the young and innocent has now turned to the anger of the cynical and pushing forty . . .
I never grew out of reworking lyrics, either, as those who read this blog know too well. (grin).

Standing in the dark in the city,,
Trying to be human — no chance,
The man with the gun said, “John, you’ve got to turn back”.
You know he didn’t even give him a chance.

You know how insane he can be,

, let’s crucify M.D.C.
Made his way into all of the papers,,
A lunatic in search of a name.
He had no real life,
So he caused a great deal of strife,
Incurably, irrefutably insane.

You know he brought misery
After what he has done here,
I wanna nail M.D.C.
Drove us crazy with horror and agony,,
Some will cry day and night now for weeks.
Lots of us said,
He should be the one dead,
I’d like to bloody him up with his piece.

The way things have happened,
Let’s crucify M.D.C.
Saving up his hostility for yesterday,,
Giving in to his bleak mentality.
Last night I said,
“Oh Mark, wish you were dead,
I doubt that you’ve even got a soul. Fink”
Made a trek to New York with a purpose,
Demons eating up his brain cells like mad,.
I have already said that he should be the one dead,
I don’t give a damn if that’s bad.

Caught John with a bunch of his bullets,
Soon after thatJohn breathed his last,
I’m so very depressed, we’re all so distressed,
The anger inside is so vast.
